France offers 'affordable holidays' for ferry travellers
Dover, August 28th 2009
British holidaymakers can find an affordable holiday during the recession by taking the ferry to France, an expert has suggested.
A spokesperson from Atout France, stated the country's close location to the UK is one reason for this, as people can hop on one of Norfolkline's great value cross-channel ferries to reach their destination.
They added that those making this short journey will find that there is something for all budgets.
The spokesperson said:
"Spa breaks in Aquitaine or in Rhone Alps, outdoor activities such as barging in Mayenne or walking tours in Gascony or even golfing in Northern France become wallet-friendly."
Meanwhile, British holidaymakers making the ferry trip to France could also opt for ski breaks during the winter months by heading to the west or south coasts after stepping off the ferry, the source went on to say.
Recently, Atout France (France Tourism Development Agency) launched the Affordable France section of its website, which aims to offer hints, tips and guides for those travelling to the country who are keen to stick to a budget and find inexpensive accommodation, transport and activities.
